Arrived in Naples around noon then headed off on a quick drive to Herculaneum which was destroyed in 79 AD by hot mud from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I had been to Pompeii years ago. Herculaneum is a smaller, lesser known place but has much more intact buildings than Pompeii.
